Whangarei Bee Club

About WBC

Our Mission Statement is: 'Helping Beekeepers Keep Bees’

The Whangarei Bee Club is made up of a strong core of dedicated hobbyists, along with a mix of commercial and semi commercial beekeepers.

We meet on the first Saturday of every month commencing at 10:00 am at the Whareora Hall on Pataua North Road, Whangarei. The club has its own apiary on site at the Whareora Hall.

Our club days start with tea/ coffee and biscuits from 9:30 am onwards, with the meeting at 10:00 am. When we have completed talks/ discussion and presentations, we have lunch which provides ample time to seek advice and make new acquaintances. Following lunch is “in hive time” in the apiary. This allows us to discuss and compare current beekeeping ideas in a hands on manner. People new to beekeeping are catered for in their own group, to allow them to gain confidence handling bee hives.

The Whangarei Bee Club owns a honey extraction plant in Whangarei, through a wholly owned subsidiary Northland Pure Honey Ltd. This plant only extracts honey for Whangarei Bee Club members. Club members also receive a monthly newsletter, and access to the members only section of our website.

Membership is $155 per family in the first year, which includes the book "Practical Beekeeping in New Zealand" (If you already have the book this cost is reduced by $45). All subsequent years are $60 per family.

We welcome any potential members to visit our club meeting without joining to allow you to get a taste for what we do. Please click here to request an invitation to our next club day
